Black Basketball History Month!... Hoopster Of The Week!...William 'Pop' Gates!

 


The 'Hoopster Of The Week'

for this week 

goes to: 

the Big Black Guy, 6-2, 205, who was the first 

two Black Men to be signed with the NBL, 

an early forerunner of the NBA, and he was 

a highly-touted All-City and All-conference 

competitor, who signed a Pro contract right 

out of high school, and after some play, he 

transferred to the Harlem Globetrotters and 

ended up coaching the team, most notably 

though, as a senior, he helped win the City 

Finals, then, the next year, he and his team 

won the NBL Finals Championship, 

and so much more...

    The 'Hoopster Of The Week'

    for this week 

    goes to: the Big Black Guy 6-7, 200, who 

    is the only player to be voted MVP in the 

    ABA and the NBA, with four in all, and is 

    known for his spectacular dunks, while 

    also depending on is sweet jumpers, and 

    he won three Championships with rings 

    to prove it, 

    and so much more... :

Black Basketball History Month!... Hoopster Of The Week!...Lusia Harris-Stewart!

 


The 'Hoopster Of The Week'

for this week 

goes to: 

the Big Black Lady, 6-3, 185, who led her 

college, Delta State University to three straight 

AIAW National Championships and was the 

MVP for those three years, and she still is the 

school's all-time leader in points and rebounds, 

while also winning a Gold Medal in Women's 

basketball at the 1975 Pan American Games, 

and later she became the first woman to score 

a basket in the Women's Montreal Olympic 

Basketball' first game in 1976, then in 1977 

she became the first woman and Black 

Woman officially drafted in the NBA by the 

New Orleans Jazz, but didn't play because 

she thought it was just for marketing, and 

she wanted to start her nuclear family 

instead, also being pregnant at the time, 

plus, she is the first Black Woman to be 

inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame, 

and so much more...

Black Basketball History Month!... Hoopster Of The Week!...Sylvia Fowles!.

 


The 'Hoopster Of The Week'

for this week 

goes to: 

the Big Black Lady, 6-6, 219, who was a 

Winning Center, even when she first laced 

up in elementary school, and she tore up the 

place at LSU, then on the Pro court she was 

an All-Star gamer 8x, 4x Defensive Player 

of the year, 8x Defensive first team, and 

won two WNBA Championships with the 

Lynx, being Finals MVP for both times, 

and is the career rebounding record holder, 

plus she was at the top in the European 

Leagues,  and she could dunk the ball,

and so much more...
