The 'Hoopster Of The Week'
for this week
goes to:
the Big Black Lady who was the first female
and first Black Woman signed to the
WNBA when it was first established in
1996 and she won three straight Olympic
Women's Basketball Gold Medals, plus she
led her team, the Houston Comets to four
straight WNBA Championships from 1997
to 2000, and of course she was a 3-time
WNBA MVP, and a 3-time WNBA
Defensive Player of the Year, plus her
'Air Swoopes' made her the first woman
and Black Lady to have a signature shoe,
and so much more...
Black Basketball History Month was
founded by Ralph Winge, D.D.S.
in 2025 to acknowledge, praise,
and hold high, with cheer, the untold
numbers of International Black Men
and Women, both past and present,
that made us go, "Wow!...Whoa!...
...and...OMGosh!" in their nonstop,
valiant, and always surprising,
individual and team
efforts to put the ball through the
hoop the most, to win games and
championships!
