for this week
goes to:
the Big Black Man, a 6-1, 162 pound Point
Guard who embarrassed a lot of opposing
players with his unpredictable style of play,
and he was the 3rd overall pick by the
Nuggets in 1990, and he was a USBWA
National Freshman of the Year, a
2× SEC Player of the Year, a 2× First-team
All-SEC member because he set the scoring
record for a LSU freshman, with 53 points
against Florida, a 2× Mississippi Mr. Basketball
in 1987 and 1988, and a NBA Most Improved
Player in 1993, and he was such a great free
throw shooter that in one practice he made
283 free throws in a row, including a
long streak of not hitting the rim,
Black Basketball History Month,
celebrated in October each year, was
founded by Ralph C. Winge, D.D.S.
in 2025 to acknowledge, praise,
and hold high, with cheer, the untold
numbers of International Black Men
and Women, both past and present,
that made us go, "Wow!...Whoa!...
...and...OMGosh!" in their nonstop,
valiant, and always surprising,
individual and team
efforts to put the ball through the
hoop the most, to win games and
championships!
The Founder of Black Basketball History Month,
Ralph C.Winge, D.D.S.,
and USC Dental School Graduate.
