The 'Hoopster Of The Week'
for this week
goes to:
the Big Black Man, 6-3, 185 pound
shooting/point guard who was known for his
flamboyant play, that extremely high arcing
'rainbow' jump shot which barely moved
the net when going through, his 44-inch
vertical leap and 360 degree dunks, his
nicknames 'The Prince of Mid-Air', 'Brownsville
Bomber' and 'All-World,' plus in college, his
team won the NAIA National Championship
and he was named MVP of the NAIA
Tournament in 1973, and he was an All-Star
Gamer in 1980, after which he played in the
USBL in 1987 where his team won the
championships and he was playoff MVP, and
after retiring, among many other things, he
is the director of player development and is
a community ambassador for the Philadelphia 76ers,
and so much more...
Black Basketball History Month,
celebrated in October each year, was
founded by Ralph C. Winge, D.D.S.
in 2025 to acknowledge, praise,
and hold high, with cheer, the untold
numbers of International Black Men
and Women, both past and present,
that made us go, "Wow!...Whoa!...
...and...OMGosh!" in their nonstop,
valiant, and always surprising,
individual and team
efforts to put the ball through the
hoop the most, to win games and
championships!
