Our 'Hoopster of the Week'
for this week
goes to:
the Big Black Guy, 6-1, 180, who paused
playing baseball with the Cleveland Indians in 1947,
to participate in one winter season during
1947-48 to play for the Paterson Crescents
of the American Basketball League, not NBA, in eight
games, averaging 2 points per game,
making him the first Black Man to play
Pro Basketball, then he resumed playing
baseball where he was already the first
Black Man contracted to play in the MLB
American League,
plus he did so much more...
Black Basketball History Month was
founded by Ralph Winge, D.D.S.
in 2025 to acknowledge, praise,
and hold high, with cheer, the untold
numbers of International Black Men
and Women, both past and present,
that made us go, "Wow!...Whoa!...
...and...OMGosh!" in their nonstop,
valiant, and always surprising,
individual and team
efforts to put the ball through the
hoop the most, to win games and
championships!
Black Football History Month Salutes the 'Footballer Of The Week!'
The Founder of Black Basketball History Month,
Ralph Winge, D.D.S.,
and elucidator of elatus labialis wingeulus.
