The 'Hoopster Of The Week'
for this week
goes to:
the Big Black Guy, 6-3, 215. who was the
first Black player to regularly play on a Big
Ten College Conference Varsity basketball
team, and was called 'Indiana Mr.
Basketball' in 1947 after leading his school
to win the State Championships, and he also
won the same state title as a coach at Crisps
Attucks High, and was also known as an
educator and a College Administrator, plus
he has a really huge and sparkling
Basketball Stadium named after
him in Shelbyville, Indiana,
and so much more...
... William Garrett!
Black Basketball History Month was
founded by Ralph Winge, D.D.S.
in 2025 to acknowledge, praise,
and hold high, with cheer, the untold
numbers of International Black Men
and Women, both past and present,
that made us go, "Wow!...Whoa!...
...and...OMGosh!" in their nonstop,
valiant, and always surprising,
individual and team
efforts to put the ball through the
hoop the most, to win games and
championships!
